Mr. Mushkin, of the Law Office of Martin Mushkin LLC, has served as a practicing attorney for more than 60 years. After working as a senior attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission and as a partner for several leading law firms in New York City, he established his own award-winning firm as a principal attorney. Representing clients throughout the U.S. and abroad in Europe, Asia and several other countries, Mr. Mushkin stands among seven other attorneys that hold a combined expertise of more than a century. Specializing in corporate finance and business litigation, his firm also focuses its practice on securities and cryptocurrency law.
During the course of his renowned career, Mr. Mushkin has litigated many arbitrations on behalf of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and has notably served on its chairpersons’ panel since 2002. He has also been involved in numerous class-action lawsuits, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigations, and other high-stakes matters. Over the years, Mr. Mushkin has contributed written works to various peer-reviewed journals on the topic of corporate finance. To wit, he co-authored the “American Institute CPA’s Handbook on Accountants Liability” in 1977 and authored and served as a co-publisher of “The American/Overseas Investor” from 1990 to 1992.
Mr. Mushkin concluded his 19-year tenure as a mediator for the U.S. District for the Southern District of New York in 2019. He also enjoyed membership with the congressionally mandated SEC-Small Business Administration Forum on Small Business Capital Formation. Furthermore, Mr. Mushkin co-chaired a course on accountants’ liability, law and litigation for the Practicing Law Institute.
Involved in community-wide activities and initiatives, Mr. Mushkin is presently a member of the American Alpine Club in Greenwich, Connecticut, which is headquartered in Colorado. He is also a member of the Greenwich Democratic Town Committee. As part of his professional commitments, Mr. Mushkin has been active on various committees and subcommittees of the American Bar Association, including the sub-committee of international securities transactions since 1993. He is also a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the Federal Bar Council and the New York State Bar Association.
Mr. Mushkin received a Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of Wisconsin in 1953. He later returned to college, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the prestigious Harvard University in 1956. Mr. Mushkin subsequently served in the U.S. Air Force as a first lieutenant in the Judge Advocate General Corps from 1956 to 1958. He has been admitted to practice law by the New York and Connecticut Bar Associations, the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the U.S. District Court of Connecticut. In recognition of his achievements, Mr. Mushkin has received an AV-Preeminent Rating by Martindale Hubbell.
